Bekasi Man Found Dead in BKT Cilincing Stream

JAKARTA - A man with the initials N (43), a resident of Taruma Jaya, Bekasi Regency, was found dead after drowning in the East Canal Flood Drainage System (BKT), Cilincing, North Jakarta.

The victim was found by the SAR team of the Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the Metro Jaya Police together with the joint SAR element.

In the search process, as many as 10 personnel from the Ditpolairud of the Metro Jaya Police were deployed, working together with Basarnas, Damkar, BPBD, and assisted by the local community.

The search was carried out by combing the river flow around the location of the incident. After about four hours, the victim's body was finally found and evacuated to be handed over to the family.

Director of Polairud Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Mustofa, explained that his party immediately deployed personnel after receiving a report from the public regarding a person who fell and disappeared in the BKT stream.

"After receiving information from the public, the SAR team of the Ditpolairud of the Metro Jaya Police immediately headed to the location and coordinated with the joint SAR element to conduct the search," said Mustofa when confirmed, Wednesday, April 29.

He also appealed to the public to be more careful when driving, especially in a tired or sleepy condition, to avoid similar incidents.

Until now, the exact cause of the victim drowning in the BKT DAS flow in the Cilincing area is still under investigation.

"We urge the public to always ensure that the body is in good condition when driving. If you feel tired or sleepy, you should rest first for the sake of safety," he concluded.
