JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto targets all schools in Indonesia to be completed by 2028.

The target was conveyed after reviewing the facilities of SMAN 1 Cilacap, Wednesday, April 29.

At the school, Prabowo saw firsthand the results of the renovation of seven classrooms and eight toilets. He also checked the implementation of the free nutritious meal program or MBG.

According to Prabowo, students said MBG helped them, including saving money.

"I see that MBG is smooth, good. The children also talk to me, they need MBG, it helps them a lot," said Prabowo.

Prabowo said the government would continue to improve schools. He called education the key to the nation's revival.

"Every Indonesian child must be given the best education," he said.

This year, the government is targeting the improvement of 70 thousand schools. The number is up from 17 thousand schools last year. For next year, Prabowo wants the target to penetrate more than 100 thousand schools.

Prabowo also wants the quality of schools not to stop at buildings. He targets classrooms equipped with digital screens, smart boards, and interactive learning systems.

Currently, said the President, some new schools only have one device. This year the government is trying to add three more devices for schools throughout Indonesia.

Prabowo also mentioned the plan for a central studio in Jakarta. From there, the best teachers can teach students in various areas. He wants English, Mandarin, and other foreign language lessons to start being strengthened since elementary school.
