JAKARTA - Mossad has successfully carried out operations inside Iran and Lebanon, and obtained "valuable intelligence", claims the head of the Israeli intelligence agency.
In a statement released on Tuesday, David Barnea said the Mossad had achieved strategic and tactical intelligence gains, including access to what he described as some of the enemy's most sensitive secrets.

Barnea also highlighted what he called a shift in Mossad's operational approach, saying the agency had become a more offensive and active force during wartime.
Previously, Barnea explained, the focus of Mossad was on secret activities between conflicts.
He explained that this shift is reflected in operations targeting Iran and Lebanon and supported by the formation of new units and special capabilities in recent years, as well as the adoption of advanced technology and innovation at various levels of work.
According to local media reports, Barnea stressed the importance of maintaining human-based operational capabilities to carry out special missions and operations.
Barnea himself has led the Mossad since June 2021. His term will end in June 2026.
Separately, Iran in recent months has announced the arrest and execution of dozens of its citizens accused of collaborating with Mossad.
The development follows what Israel described as significant intelligence penetration inside Iran, which it said allowed the killing of dozens of Iranian political and military leaders since the outbreak of the war on February 28.
Among those mentioned were former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Mohammad Bagheri, according to the report.
The claim also came after the killing of senior Hezbollah leaders in Lebanon during the war that began in 2024 after the October 7, 2023 attack in Gaza.
Among those killed were Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, his successor Hashem Safieddine, and other high military commanders, particularly within the Radwan Forces.
