JAKARTA - Former Mayor of Semarang, Hevearita G. Rahayu alias Mbak Ita, has filed a request for a Review (PK) to the Supreme Court regarding the decision on corruption cases in the Semarang City Government period 2022-2024 that ensnared him.
Mbak Ita's lawyer, Erna Ratnaningsih, after the PK application hearing at the Semarang Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor), said that at least five new evidence were submitted in the extraordinary legal effort.
In addition, he said, there was allegedly a mistake by the judge at the first instance court that tried the case.
One of the new evidence presented, according to him, is the evidence that the convict never enjoyed the benefits of the Semarak Simpang Lima event which was financed from the results of illegal levies (pungli).
"Mbak Ita does not receive benefits, everything is for the community," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 23.
The hearing for the PK application was chaired by Chief Justice Edwin Pudyono.
The next hearing will still be held at the Semarang Corruption Court for evidence examination, before it is further referred to the Supreme Court.
Previously, former Mayor of Semarang Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu was sentenced to five years in prison in a corruption case in the city government in the period 2022 to 2024.
Against this decision, Mbak Ita did not appeal or cassation.
