PADANG - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) said it had succeeded in establishing more than 27 thousand Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) throughout Indonesia in a period of one year and four months as an effort to succeed the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program.

"In just one year and four months we have managed to establish 27 thousand SPPGs spread from Sabang to Merauke," said BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, in Padang City, West Sumatra, Antara, Wednesday, April 22.

Dadan explained that this achievement made BGN now have 27 thousand SPPG heads, 27 thousand nutritionists, 27 thousand accountants, and about 1.1 million volunteers involved in the program.

Especially in West Sumatra, BGN noted that there were 404 SPPG, 70 of which were in Padang City. With this number, the turnover of money to support the needs of MBG in the region is estimated to reach Rp. 400 billion.

"Of the money that goes into the virtual account in each SPPG, 70 percent is used to buy raw materials," said Dadan.

He emphasized that the MBG program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto not only aims to create superior and healthy human resources (HR), but also provides a wide economic impact, ranging from the agricultural sector to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

According to him, about 95 percent of the raw materials for MBG come from the agricultural sector, so this policy directly impacts farmers, ranchers, fishermen, and other business actors. Meanwhile, about 20 percent of the budget is allocated for operations, including volunteer salaries ranging from IDR 2.4 million to IDR 3.5 million.

Based on reports from a number of regions, Dadan said the MBG program also contributed to reducing poverty and unemployment rates, and had a positive impact on the inequality ratio (gini ratio).

"I have received reports that the community is also eager to farm, plant, raise livestock, and so on. Hopefully in Padang and West Sumatra as well," said Dadan.
