WEST SUMATRA - The Quarantine Agency has tightened supervision of the distribution channels of sacrificial animals from the eastern region, namely West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which are the crucial points for sending livestock to various regions in Indonesia.

Gili Mas Port in West Lombok and Tenau Port in Kupang are strategic routes for the distribution of sacrificial cattle from the eastern region to destination areas in western Indonesia.
"Kupang is relatively smoother because it uses the KM Camara Nusantara transport. Meanwhile, from Flores there are those who enter Bima and there are also those who can go directly to Kalimantan or to Sulawesi," said Sriyanto.
The Quarantine Agency ensures that all sacrificial animals that are transported to various regions are in healthy condition free from foot and mouth disease (FMD), anthrax, and bumpy skin disease.
Every livestock must undergo sampling and examination before being dispatched to prevent the spread of the disease.
"We require that before the animals are transported, samples must be taken and examinations must be carried out to ensure that the animals are healthy," concluded Sriyanto.
