The Joint Team of the Prosecutor's Office Arrested DPO for Misappropriation of Rp7.1 Billion Belonging to Business Partners in Jambi

JAKARTA - The Joint Fugitive Capture Team (Tabur) of the Jambi High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati), Kejagung and Kejari Jambi arrested the convict Asril, a Person Search List (DPO) in the case of embezzlement of Rp7.1 billion in the money belonging to business associates.

"The arrest was carried out in the Talang Bakung Village area, South Jambi District, Jambi City, the convict Asril has been in DPO since 2019, and was arrested after about seven years in hiding," said Head of the Jambi Regional Attorney's Office, Nolly Wijaya, in Jambi, Friday, quoted by Antara.

The convicted Asril in the judge's decision has been proven to have committed the crime of embezzlement as stipulated and threatened with criminal punishment in Article 372 of the Criminal Code, which occurred in the jurisdiction of the Jambi High Prosecutor's Office.

The modus operandi of the convict was embezzlement of money belonging to a business partner of the pinang seeds, namely the victim's witness Iyam Wartini, amounting to Rp7.1 billion.

The money was used not in accordance with the provisions in the business join, but rather for the personal interests of the convicts.

For his actions, the victim suffered a loss so that he continued the case to the legal realm.

Furthermore, the Public Prosecutor and the Jambi District Court carried out the execution based on the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia's Decision Number: 261K/Pid/2019 dated April 25, 2019 and the court's decision execution order (P-48) dated April 16, 2026.

In the ruling, the convict was sentenced to two years in prison and charged with a case fee of Rp2,500.

After being secured, said Nolly, the convicted person was cooperative so that the security process went smoothly. Furthermore, the convict Asril was taken to serve his sentence at the Jambi Class II A Penitentiary.

This success is a form of the Prosecutor's commitment to upholding the law and ensuring that every convicted person who has the force of law must carry out his sentence.

The Prosecutor's Office also appealed to all other DPOs to immediately surrender and be held accountable for their actions.
