Indonesia Buys Oil from Russia, Energy Minister: Long-term Energy Cooperation

Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto held talks related to energy when he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia was then given instructions to follow up on the purchase of crude or crude oil from Russia. Bahlil said that in the meeting, the focus was also on long-term energy cooperation.

Russia will be ready to build several important infrastructure in order to increase Indonesia's national energy reserves and resilience. This was conveyed by Bahlil at the Presidential Palace Complex, Kammis, April 16.

Crude is crude oil that has not been processed. This material will later be processed at the refinery into fuels such as gasoline, diesel, and avtur. Bahlil explained, Indonesia's fuel consumption reached 1.6 million barrels per day.

Meanwhile, the lifting of oil is only around 600 thousand to 610 thousand barrels per day. The rest is covered by imports of around 1 million barrels per day. Meanwhile, according to Bahlil, the national demand is around 300 million barrels of crude oil per year.

Of that amount, the government will seek supply sources from anywhere. For LPG, Indonesia still imports around 7 million tons per year and is now trying to find alternative supplies.
