JAKARTA - The Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General's Office has named the Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Hery Susanto, as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in nickel mining business management for the period 2013-2025.
The determination of the suspect was made after investigators collected sufficient evidence from the investigation, including searches at a number of locations.
Director of Investigation of Jampidsus, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, said Hery was suspected of being involved in regulating policies related to the Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) problem faced by PT TSHI.
"Brother HS has been designated as a suspect in the case of alleged corruption in nickel mining business management," said Syarief at the Attorney General's Office, Thursday, April 16, 2026.
According to him, the case began when PT TSHI faced a problem with the calculation of PNBP by the Ministry of Forestry. In the process, the company allegedly cooperated with Hery Susanto to influence policies through the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia.
The goal is so that PT TSHI can calculate the amount of PNBP obligations that must be paid to the state.
In the process, investigators suspect that there was a flow of funds to the suspect. The value is said to have reached Rp. 1.5 billion.
"Approximately what has been handed over from one party is around Rp. 1.5 billion," said Syarief.
Investigators also seized Rp1.5 billion in cash suspected to be related to the case. The funds are said to have come from the Director of PT TSHI.
"The evidence we seized was Rp. 1.5 billion," he said.
For his actions, Hery was charged with a number of articles in the Corruption Criminal Code, including Article 12 letters a and b, as well as Articles 5 and 6 of the new Criminal Code.
Currently, Hery has been detained for the first 20 days for the sake of investigation.
"At this time, the suspect is being detained for the next 20 days," concluded Syarif.
