Head of Public Relations Section of Denpasar Police I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya said the victim with the initials I Gusti AIG (34) came alone to the location to exercise. The incident occurred at IOWA Gym around 08.00 Wita.

"The victim went to the second floor and used the treadmill," Adi said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 15.

He explained that a few minutes later the perpetrator suddenly approached the victim, grabbed his shoulders, and beat him.

The victim had repelled the attack, but did not know for sure what the perpetrator used. As a result of the incident, the victim fell and the perpetrator immediately left the location.

The victim chased the perpetrator to Jalan Batanta, but stopped the pursuit because he was exhausted.

Furthermore, the victim returned to the location with the help of his colleagues and was taken to Bali Med Denpasar Hospital for medical treatment, before being referred to Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah Hospital.

"The victim suffered a 1.5 centimeter laceration on the left side of the head and complained of pain throughout the body," he said.

Police said the victim and the perpetrator did not know each other beforehand.

Currently, the perpetrator has been secured at the West Denpasar Police to undergo further examination.

Police are still investigating the motive for the persecution.
