JAKARTA - The Alliance of Student Executive Bodies at Indonesian Universities (BEM se-UI) urges the campus to be transparent in handling the alleged case of sexual harassment involving a number of students at the Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia (UI).

This case came to light after the circulation of screenshots of conversations in a student chat group that allegedly contained content of harassment and humiliation of the victim.

Representatives of BEM across UI stated that all suspected perpetrators had been officially reported to the UI Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (Satgas PPKS). They asked for the handling process to be carried out openly, objectively, and in favor of the victim.

Based on the information collected, the chat group was allegedly created since 2024. However, the victim only realized that he was the object of harassment in 2025, after finding the contents of the conversation which he considered degrading and damaging to him.

Although he had known about the incident since last year, the victim only dared to convey this case to the public in the near future. The decision to speak openly or speak up received support from various student elements in the campus environment.

In the circulating report, there are a number of initials of students who are suspected of being involved in the conversation, namely IK, NZ, PDPP, DSW, MDP, SPP, KEP, MT, MARP, MK, RFR, MN, RM, AHFG, RBS, and VH.

The victim's lawyer, Timotius Rajaguguk, said that the victim in this case was not only a student, but also a number of lecturers at the UI Faculty of Law.

"Regarding the number of victims, so far what I represent and also the lecturers are all from the Faculty of Law, UI. However, there are still other victims who have not been exposed," he said Tuesday, April 14.

BEM across UI confirmed that they would continue to monitor the process of handling the case until it was completed. They also asked the campus to strengthen the prevention and handling system of sexual violence so that similar cases would not occur again in the university environment.

This case previously surfaced after the circulation of screenshots of conversations in a student chat group that allegedly contained inappropriate content and objectification of female victims.
