BANDUNG - The Bandung City Police are investigating a case of alleged negligence of a nurse who almost handed over a baby to parents who were not his biological parents while undergoing treatment at the Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bandung Police, AKBP Anton, said his party was investigating whether there were criminal elements or violations of standard operating procedures (SOP) in the incident.
"We are currently still in the investigation phase, have coordinated with relevant parties and later from the results of this investigation we will convey," said Anton as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 14.
He said that officers had visited the scene and coordinated with the hospital to collect data and initial information.
According to him, until now the police have not been able to determine whether the incident occurred due to administrative negligence or there was an element of intention.
"We are still in the investigation stage and will check the SOP implemented at the hospital," he said.
Anton said his party would check the surveillance camera (CCTV) footage and ask for information from related parties, including medical personnel on duty during the incident.
In addition, the police will also invite relevant parties to be asked for clarification to uncover the chronology of events in full.
