Cianjur - The Cianjur Police, West Java, together with residents, arrested a wild monkey that attacked residents and a 5-year-old child in Cimangu Village, Cibeber District.

Cibeber Police Chief Kompol Tio said the arrest of the wild monkey, which had made the community uneasy, was carried out by four members assisted by dozens of residents around the area with air guns and nets.

A few hours later, the searchers and residents found a wild monkey perched on a tree that was quite high, so that manual capture with a net could not be carried out.

"Officers were forced to shoot the wild monkey with a pneumatic gun until it finally fell. This is so that it does not come back and hurt residents," he said as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 14.

He explained that the search involved three hunting dogs belonging to residents, so that they managed to sniff out the presence of wild monkeys not far from the village.

"We urge the public to remain vigilant when finding wild animals and immediately report it to officers so that it can be handled immediately," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the five-year-old child who was attacked by a wild monkey and suffered injuries, on Monday afternoon (13/4) he had received medical assistance at the Sayang Cianjur Hospital in the form of 35 stitches due to the monkey's scratches and bites.

"The victim was playing behind the house, suddenly a wild monkey came and attacked immediately. The attacking monkey was only one with a fairly large body size with sharp and long fangs," he said.
