NUSANTARA - The construction of the legislative and judicial complex in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan (Kaltim) continues to be accelerated with the target of completion in 2027-2028.

This strategic project includes the construction of the main buildings of state institutions and supporting infrastructure that will become the foundation of Indonesia's new government center.

Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono said that the development of the legislative area was designed to present five main buildings, including the Paripurna Building, the DPR building, the DPD building, and the MPR building.

"The Paripurna building will become a center for parliamentary activities with a capacity of up to 1,579 people. Currently, the project design is still in the refinement stage while waiting for approval from President Prabowo Subianto," said Basuki.

In addition, supporting infrastructure is also being prepared. The 3.7-kilometer-long road area is being designed to strengthen connectivity between buildings. The initial phase of land clearing has been carried out as part of accelerating the project.

"Meanwhile, the development of the judicial area is divided into two work packages. The first package includes the construction of the Supreme Court Building along with supporting areas and the Justice Plaza," said Basuki.

"The second package includes the construction of the Constitutional Court Building, the judicial area, to the mosque facilities. All of these areas will be supported by a 8 kilometer road network," he continued.

Basuki also ensured that the project would continue even though the government was implementing budget efficiency policies. This is because the construction of the legislative and judicial complex is not included in the savings program.

"The construction of the judicial and legislative institutions complex is not included in the efficiency. Construction continues, so there is no need to hesitate," said Basuki.

He added that the strengthening of basic infrastructure was also being rushed, such as building ponds and retention ponds, including EC-08 ponds and TR01 retention ponds, to ensure the water resistance of the area. Drinking water piping networks are also being built and will be integrated through the Multi-Utility Tunnel (MUT) system to support the needs of the IKN central government core area (KIPP).

"With the progress that continues, the construction of the legislative and judicial complex is expected to be an important milestone in realizing a modern and integrated government center in IKN," he said.
