Police Arrest Suspect in Fake KPK Employee Case Who Tricked Sahroni

JAKARTA - Police have named one suspect in a fraud case by claiming to be an employee of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) targeting Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ahmad Sahroni.

The suspect is known as TH alias D (48). The determination of the legal status was conveyed by Sahroni's lawyer, Dimas Asep, at a press conference, Saturday, April 11, 2026.

"It has (been designated as a suspect)," said Dimas.

He explained that the suspect was charged with fraud with a maximum penalty of four years in prison.

Initially, the report submitted by Sahroni included allegations of extortion and fraud. However, in the course of the investigation, the element of extortion was considered not to have been met so that the case ended up in the fraud article.

"Mr. Ahmad Sahroni's report initially concerned two articles, but in its development it was more directed towards fraud," he said.

According to Dimas, the element of extortion was dropped because there was no violence or threat of violence in the incident.

"The element of extortion was not fulfilled because there was no violence or threat of violence," he said.

This is also in line with Sahroni's statement that there was no discussion of the case in the meeting. The perpetrators only came to ask for money in the name of the KPK leadership.

"There is no case management, just asking for money," said Dimas.

Thus, this case has officially risen to the investigation stage with a single article, namely fraud.

"On that basis, the investigation uses one article, namely fraud," he said.

In this case, the suspect is threatened with a maximum of four years in prison or a category five fine in accordance with applicable laws.

However, Dimas said that the article imposed was included in the category that was excluded from being detained.

This case is still being handled by the police for further legal proceedings.
