JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) encourages the establishment of a Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) to strengthen transparency and accountability in handling the case of water spraying against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.

This encouragement comes amid growing public attention to the law enforcement process, including the need to ensure protection for victims and openness of information during the investigation.

Komnas HAM Commissioner Amiruddin al Rahab assessed that the presence of the TGPF can be a strategic mechanism to bridge the need for transparency while strengthening public confidence.

"To overcome these three issues, it is advisable for the Coordinating Minister for Human Rights and Social Inclusion to take the initiative to form a Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) for the events that befell Andrie Yunus. The TGPF will be able to bridge the public's doubts about the investigation by the TNI on the one hand, and on the other hand the TGPF will be able to maintain the transparency of the investigation in the TNI," said Amiruddin as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, April 10.

According to him, the TGPF can serve as a collaborative platform that involves various elements, so that the process of revealing the facts becomes more comprehensive and balanced.

This mechanism is also considered important to ensure that every stage of handling the case is carried out with the principle of accountability and pays attention to the protection of witnesses and victims.

In addition, Amiruddin emphasized that the existence of the TGPF has the potential to strengthen the quality of law enforcement by ensuring that the process does not stop at the field actors alone, but also traces the parties who have a wider role in the incident.

"TGPF can also maintain, so that the legal process does not stop only on the four names of people who have been announced by the Danpuspom TNI previously," he said.

Komnas HAM considers the establishment of the TGPF as an important step to strengthen the principles of transparency, independence, and fairness in handling cases. Through this approach, it is hoped that the legal process will not only run according to procedures, but also be able to answer public expectations for credible and just law enforcement.
