Attending President Prabowo's briefing, Mardiono said that natural wealth must return for the prosperity of the people.

JAKARTA - Special Presidential Envoy for Food Security, Muhamad Mardiono, attended a briefing by President Prabowo Subianto in a Government Working Meeting with members of the Red and White Cabinet at the Merdeka Palace, Wednesday (8/4/2026).

Mardiono said that the cabinet working meeting this time focused on strengthening the government's work program, especially in encouraging the people's economy as the main priority.

In addition, the government also pays serious attention to efforts to eradicate corruption, especially those originating from the management of natural wealth.

"The emphasis of the President is very clear, that the people's economy must be the foundation. On the other hand, eradicating corruption, especially that which comes from our natural wealth, is also an important priority going forward," said Mardiono, after attending the meeting.

Mardiono said, in accordance with the mandate of the constitution in Article 33 Paragraph 3 of the 1945 Constitution which states that natural wealth is owned by the state and used to the greatest extent for the prosperity of the people.

"Therefore, the management of natural resources must really be directed for the benefit of the people, not for the benefit of a few parties," he said.

In his direction, President Prabowo emphasized that the government had shown the effectiveness of its work during the leadership period, especially in dealing with global dynamics that were full of uncertainty.

"The government has proven its effectiveness and performance in dealing with world uncertainties," said President Prabowo.

The President also emphasized the importance of food, energy, and water sovereignty as the main pillars of national security. These three sectors are considered not only related to the basic needs of the community, but also a key in maintaining sustainable national resilience.

In response to this, Mardiono emphasized that national sovereignty does not only stop at the political aspect, but must also include economic sovereignty, including the achievement of food and energy self-sufficiency.

"This sovereignty is not only political sovereignty, but also economic sovereignty. We must be able to achieve food self-sufficiency, energy, and other strategic sectors as part of the government's work program priorities," he said.

In the midst of the heavy flow of digital information and the challenge of disruption, the President also reminded all levels of government to remain calm, vigilant, and adhere to the principles of the state, as well as maintain inter-agency solidarity.

Mardiono also invited all elements of the nation to maintain unity and provide support for the legitimate government.

"The government of President Prabowo and the Vice President-elect is the result of the people's choice constitutionally. Therefore, there is no reason not to support, let alone encourage efforts that can weaken the government," he said.

Mardiono also emphasized that currently the government is working hard to realize the prosperity of the people in the midst of an uncertain global situation.

"I appeal to all elites, observers, scientists, and all layers of Indonesian society to join hands, unite to support this government to be successful, for the success of the Indonesian nation," concluded Mardiono.
