JAKARTA - Political analyst Boni Hargens said the Indonesian National Army (TNI) has an active role in maintaining national social and economic stability amid the impact of the Middle East conflict, in line with President Prabowo Subianto's direction.

According to Boni, the TNI took proactive steps so that global geopolitical turmoil would not have an impact on the domestic economic crisis, especially in the energy sector.

"The role of the TNI in maintaining national economic stability includes several strategic dimensions, ranging from securing infrastructure to intelligence support," said Boni, Thursday, April 9.

He explained that the TNI was deployed to tighten surveillance at vital points of energy distribution, such as oil refineries, fuel depots, and distribution lines that are prone to being infiltrated by illegal networks.

In addition, the TNI also collaborates with the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia and the National Intelligence Agency in building a threat map, including identifying networks of energy subsidy abuse.

"Information from military intelligence is an important contribution to the enforcement operation led by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police," he said.

Boni assessed that this step is part of the government's commitment to protect energy subsidies to be targeted, while maintaining national energy resilience in the midst of global fluctuations.

He also emphasized the importance of uncompromising law enforcement against perpetrators of subsidized fuel and LPG abuse.

"The President gives full mandate to the authorities to take firm action against energy crimes that harm the country and the people," he said.

Furthermore, Boni assessed that the synergy between the TNI, Polri, and the government was the key to facing the dual threat, both from within the country in the form of subsidy abuse, and from abroad due to geopolitical pressure.

"This synergy forms a layered defense system that is able to maintain national economic stability in the midst of global uncertainty," said Boni.

He added that the misuse of energy subsidies has a direct impact on small communities, such as the scarcity of 3 kilogram LPG and price increases at the consumer level, so supervision must continue to be strengthened.
