DENPASAR - The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Badung Regency, Bali, deported a fugitive from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) from England with the initials SL to continue legal proceedings in the destination country.

"Strict immigration supervision is the front line in maintaining national security from potential foreign threats," said Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office Bugie Kurniawan in Badung Regency, Bali, Wednesday, April 8, reported by ANTARA.

SL was deported through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport via a domestic flight to Jakarta then continued to fly to Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The fugitive, who is suspected of being a 45-year-old mafia boss, was escorted by immigration officers along with the Secretariat of the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol Indonesia.

While waiting for the plane at the airport, his hands were handcuffed to facilitate the accompaniment process.

Previously, Ngurah Rai Immigration officers arrested SL at the international arrival terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport shortly after landing from Singapore on Saturday (28/3).

Ngurah Rai Immigration then carried out the process of handing over the SL to the Police Resor (Polres) I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Area.

Based on data and intelligence coordination, SL is suspected of being the leader of an international criminal organization.

Bugie added that he was suspected of being the mastermind who controlled his network members in the operation of managing fictitious companies as well as money laundering crimes.

"Our system is well integrated and our officers are experienced in detecting and securing Interpol's wanted list (DPO)," he added.

Immigration, he said, strengthens coordination with various law enforcement agencies, both domestic and international, to ensure that every crossing of foreigners is accurately monitored.

"Consistent and intelligence-based immigration supervision is a crucial element in maintaining the security and order of the country from cross-border criminal threats," he said.
