Bogor City DPRD Urges Handling of Illegal Waste Not Just a Ceremonial

BOGOR - The Chairman of the Bogor City DPRD, Adityawarman Adil, highlighted the still rampant illegal waste disposal points on a number of roads, while participating in the "Korve Kebersihan" action on Jalan KH R Abdullah Bin Nuh, West Bogor District, Tuesday, April 7.

According to Adityawarman, the problem of littering cannot be considered trivial and must be handled seriously and sustainably, not just through a moment of cleaning.

"This korve activity is a joint effort, but more importantly, how can this problem of stray garbage be handled systematically and not repeated," he said.

He emphasized that the DPRD was present in the activity not only as a ceremonial, but also to ensure the field conditions and encourage improvements in public services, especially in the sanitation sector.

Adityawarman also emphasized the importance of making cleanliness a community culture, so that the practice of indiscriminate waste disposal in certain points is no longer found.

"We want this to become a culture, not just a momentary activity. A clean environment must start with a shared awareness," he said.

In addition, he highlighted the importance of arranging the protocol area which is often the face of the city. According to him, the existence of garbage not only disturbs aesthetics, but also has an impact on public comfort and health.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Commission II of the Bogor City DPRD, Achmad Rifki Alaydrus, revealed that illegal waste disposal sites (TPS) were still found along the route.

He encouraged an evaluation of the operational system for transporting garbage so that the accumulation on the side of the road could be minimized.

"We see that there are still illegal TPS. This needs to be evaluated, especially regarding the schedule and waste collection system," said Rifki.

The Bogor City DPRD hopes that the handling of illegal waste can be carried out in a coordinated manner through system improvements, supervision, and increased public awareness, so that the cleanliness of the city can be maintained consistently.
