Three TNI Defendants in the Murder of Kacab Bank Attend First Trial

JAKARTA - The Military Court II-08 Jakarta, Cakung, East Jakarta held the first trial for the alleged kidnapping and murder of a bank branch head (kacab) with the initials MIP (37) involving a TNI soldier, on Monday.

"Today the first trial was held with the agenda of reading the indictment letter (by the military prosecutor)," said the Spokesperson for the Jakarta Military Court II-08, Major Laut (Law) Arin Fauzam, quoting ANTARA, Monday, April 6, 2026.

Based on the Jakarta Military Court II-08 Case Tracking Information System (SIPP) website, the trial falls under the type of murder case with case number 52-K/PM.II-08/AD/III/2026.

This first trial is scheduled to take place in the morning at around 09.00 WIB in the Garuda Courtroom or the main courtroom. Arin also appealed to media colleagues to be able to monitor and follow the course of the trial.

In the trial, the Military Audit as public prosecutor in the military court presented the three defendants directly at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta.

Arin also guarantees that the trial process will be carried out professionally, independently, impartially, transparently and accountable.

This case has become a public concern because it involves TNI soldiers in an alleged serious criminal act in the form of kidnapping and murder of a bank branch manager.

The defendants, namely Serka MN (defendant 1), Kopda FN (defendant 2), and Serka FY (defendant 3) are suspected of being involved in a series of kidnappings accompanied by the murder of MIP.

Based on data in the Case Tracking Information System (SIPP), the defendants were charged with overlapping articles that include premeditated murder, murder, severe abuse resulting in death, and kidnapping.

For defendant 1, the military prosecutor filed a main charge in the form of Article 340 of the Criminal Code concerning premeditated murder in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code. This charge is also linked to the provisions of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, especially Article 459 and Article 20 letter a.

As a sub-charge, defendant 1 was charged with Article 338 of the Criminal Code regarding murder, and more sub-charge of Article 351 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code regarding abuse which caused death.

In addition, there is also an alternative charge in the form of Article 333 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code regarding the deprivation of liberty or kidnapping resulting in death, as well as Article 181 of the Criminal Code regarding attempts to conceal or remove evidence or bodies.

Meanwhile, defendant 2 and defendant 3 also face similar charges. Both of them, charged with the primary article of Article 340 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code, which regulates joint involvement in the crime of premeditated murder. The indictment is strengthened by reference to Article 459 and Article 20 letter d of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

As an alternative, the military prosecutor also drafted a charge of sub-article 338 of the Criminal Code and more sub-article 351 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code. In addition, the two defendants were also charged with Article 333 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code regarding the alleged kidnapping which resulted in the victim's death.

All the defendants are currently in custody. The trial will continue with the agenda of further examination of the indictment and proof from the military oditur.

In the kidnapping and murder case, 15 civilian perpetrators were also involved.

A total of 15 suspects in the kidnapping case that led to the death of the Head of the Assistant Branch (KCP) of a bank in Central Jakarta with the initials MIP (37) are threatened with a prison sentence of 12 years.

The 15 suspects were charged with Article 328 of the Criminal Code regarding the crime of kidnapping and 333 of the Criminal Code regarding the crime of unlawful deprivation of the freedom of another person which can result in serious injury or death.

"With a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison," said the Director of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Police Wira Satya Triputra, at a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday (16/9/2025).
