Jusuf Kalla Denies Danai's Allegations Regarding the Authenticity of Jokowi's Diploma

JAKARTA - The 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, denied allegations that he funded Roy Suryo and related parties to question the authenticity of the diploma of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

Based on several information spread on digital platforms, Jusuf Kalla (JK) stated that he was suspected of providing funding of Rp5 billion for this and ensured that the information was not true.

"I say it is certain and I am sure it is not true," JK said at a press conference at his residence, Jakarta, Sunday.

For this reason, JK stated that he would report to the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) Polri to straighten out the matter, and establish that the accusation was not true.

According to JK, his lawyer will report to the Criminal Investigation Unit on Monday (5/4).

In addition, JK also emphasized that he had never been involved in the polemics over Jokowi's diploma, whether he was involved with Roy Suryo or Rismon Sianipar.

In addition, JK conveyed that the meeting that took place at his residence last Ramadan with a number of academics and professionals was to discuss suggestions for the current condition of the nation.

According to JK, a number of parties who attended his residence were not invited because of their own will.

"It's open, the conversation is open, it's open at all. It's just a suggestion for policy and it's for the President (Prabowo). Yes, Mr. President (Prabowo)," said Jusuf Kalla.

Meanwhile, JK's lawyer, Abdul Haji Talaohu, said that the report was likely to be submitted for defamation. This step was taken as a form of accountability for the allegations.

In fact, he said, Jusuf Kalla really did not want to handle these "trivial" matters. However, because it received public attention, his party decided to make a report.

"And Mr. JK just said that it was a slander, a slanderous accusation so this must be taken seriously," said Abdul.
