JAKARTA - Indonesia again asked the UN Security Council to investigate all incidents against the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) after three Indonesian peacekeepers were killed by an explosion on Friday (3/4) in El Addaiseh, South Lebanon.

In an official statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) in Jakarta, Saturday, Indonesia expressed its deep concern over the explosion that occurred on Friday (3/4) in El Addaiseh, southern Lebanon, which injured three Indonesian peacekeepers serving in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

"Indonesia again asks the UN Security Council to immediately investigate all incidents against UNIFIL and that a meeting be held immediately between the countries contributing troops to UNIFIL to conduct a review and take action to strengthen protection for troops serving in UNIFIL," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in its official statement.

Indonesia said the three injured personnel were the third serious incident involving Indonesian peacekeepers in UNIFIL in the past week.

Indonesia also emphasized that repeated attacks are unacceptable, regardless of what the cause is, and stressed the importance of immediately strengthening protection for UN peacekeepers as conflicts become more dangerous.

"Indonesia emphasizes again that the safety and security of UN peacekeepers cannot be negotiated. Any action that endangers them is a serious violation of international law and must not be left without accountability," the statement said.

The Indonesian government again calls for an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation to uncover the facts, including the chronology of events and those responsible, and insists that full accountability must be enforced.

Indonesia said that the incident occurred amid Israel's attacks on Lebanon, and Israel's ongoing military operations, including statements to defend Israel's existence. This reality risks destabilizing the situation and continues to endanger UN peacekeepers.

The Indonesian government also hopes that the injured personnel will recover soon and expresses solidarity with the personnel and their families.

Indonesian peacekeeper, Praka Dua Farizal Rhomadhon, was killed by artillery fire around the position of the Indonesian UNIFIL contingent near Adchit Al Qusayr, southern Lebanon, on Sunday (29/3).

Exactly the next day on Monday (30/3), Indonesia again lost two more personnel in UNIFIL when the convoy of troops they were guarding was attacked.

The two personnel who died in the attack were Infantry Captain Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan.

Meanwhile, five TNI soldiers who were injured include Lieutenant One Infantry Sulthan Wirdean Maulana, Head Soldier (Praka) Deni Rianto, Praka Rico Pramudia, Praka Bayu Prakoso, and Praka Arif Kurniawan.

With the addition of three injured personnel, so far a total of eight TNI soldiers have been injured while carrying out their duties as UN peacekeepers in Lebanon.
