JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump reiterated his seriousness to withdraw the US from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

"Oh yeah, I would say [it] is out of consideration," he said during an interview with Britain's The Telegraph, Wednesday, April 1.

Trump was upset with his allies in Europe and NATO member states who were reluctant to send warships to help the US control the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump has repeatedly expressed his disappointment, even mentioning the United Kingdom and France.

"I was never influenced by NATO. I always knew they were paper tigers, and Putin knew that too," Trump continued.

Trump also criticized the lack of support from NATO countries in the US-Israeli war against Iran. The property billionaire even scolded NATO with the term "coward".

In this interview session, Trump claimed that NATO's support "should be automatic". He also hinted by comparing US support to Russia's war in Ukraine.

"We have been there automatically, including Ukraine. Ukraine is not our problem," he said.

"That was a test, and we were there for them, and we will always be there for them. They were not there for us," Trump continued.
