Fuel Prices Not Rising, PAN DPR Faction: This Policy is Important to Maintain Economic Stability

JAKARTA - The Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Faction of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and Deputy Chairman of Commission XII of the DPR RI, Putri Zulkifli Hasan, responded positively to the government's decision to ensure that there would be no increase in fuel prices by April 1, 2026. According to him, this policy is important to maintain national economic stability.

"This policy is important to maintain people's purchasing power and economic stability," Putri told reporters, Wednesday, April 1.

Putri revealed that in the 2026 PAN II National Congress, it was also emphasized that this momentum must be used to strengthen the long-term energy agenda, especially through campaigns for savings and wise use of energy.

"PAN encourages a movement of energy savings and wisdom in all cadres as a concrete step to maintain national energy resilience," he said.

He added that energy price stability needs to be accompanied by an acceleration of the energy transition to more sustainable sources, while supporting the energy self-sufficiency vision of the Prabowo Subianto government.

"The PAN faction is ready to monitor energy policies that not only maintain current stability, but also strengthen national energy independence in the future," he said.

In addition, Putri said, the PAN Faction also encouraged PT Pertamina (Persero) to ensure that fuel distribution remains smooth and on target. He also emphasized the importance of monitoring fuel distribution in the field and taking firm action against practices of deviation, including embezzlement and hoarding.

Putri also encouraged the active role of the Oil and Gas Upstream Regulatory Agency or BPH Migas to ensure that the governance of energy distribution is transparent, accountable, and targeted.

"We ask that distribution supervision be tightened and there should be no room for practices of embezzlement or hoarding fuel. This must be dealt with firmly so as not to harm the community," said Putri.
