83 Houses in Ciamis Damaged by Heavy Rain with Strong Wind

CIAMIS - The Ciamis Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), West Java, said that the results of the assessment recorded 83 damaged houses spread across a number of sub-districts due to extreme weather in the form of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, so that repair efforts were carried out so that the community could occupy their homes.

"A total of 83 houses were affected, 48 were slightly damaged, two were moderately damaged, two were severely damaged, 31 houses were reported to be completed with mutual aid," said the Head of the Ciamis BPBD, Ani Supiani, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 30.

He said that heavy rain accompanied by strong winds such as tornadoes hit Ciamis area, especially the affected areas, namely Purwadadi, Cisaga, and Tambaksari Districts on Saturday (28/3) afternoon.

The results of the assessment of the Ciamis BPBD, he said, there were houses that were slightly damaged and were immediately given treatment to be repaired, while those that were moderately and severely damaged would be further handled by the relevant agencies.

He said that in addition to damaged houses, there were also four public facilities such as rice barns, mosques, village offices, and village health centers in Purwadadi District that were also damaged.

"The education facilities of SDN 2 Pasirlawang were slightly damaged, and one unit of the business world, the tent warehouse, was slightly damaged," he said.

He said extreme weather not only caused damage to the roof of the house, but also a number of trees fell.

Fortunately, said Ani, the incident did not cause any casualties, all residents were safe, and currently they have occupied their homes.

Extreme weather also caused a landslide disaster in Mekarbuana Village, Panawangan District, which threatened two houses around the landslide.

Landslides also occurred in Kiarapayung Village, Rancah District, which had partially closed the road. Furthermore, landslides in Buanamekar Village, Panumbangan District, threatened one house.
