PEKANBARU - The Riau Provincial Government has eliminated the use of vehicles/official cars and electricity/energy for three days from Friday to Sunday as a step to increase fuel and energy efficiency amid global pressure.

Acting Governor of Riau SF Hariyanto said the world oil price benchmark was previously 70 US dollars per barrel but now it was above 100 US dollars per barrel. This condition, according to him, needs to be watched out for by making anticipations.

"So for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, government vehicles should not be used, so there is no more use of fuel," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 30.

Then, to save electricity, the Governor asked air conditioners (air conditioners) and lights in the offices of the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) on Fridays and Sundays to be turned off. The lights in the front of the office were turned on, he continued.

In addition, he said for Monday-Thursday from morning to 10.00 WIB there was no need to turn on the AC. Hariyanto asked to open the window so that it was bright and if it was afternoon only turn on the AC.

To ensure that this efficiency runs according to the scheme applied, the Acting Governor of Riau asked the OPD to evaluate the implementation of the energy award in the next month.

This is related to how much electricity was issued in the previous month compared to when it was implemented.

According to him, the abolition of operational vehicles and electricity to follow up on the "Work From Home" (WFH) policy on Friday.

This follows the Central Government's plan to implement WFH one day a week for ASN, especially those not related to public services.

"Currently there is no technical guidance, we are still waiting for a circular from the central government, but it is likely to be implemented on Friday. Keep working, so later on Friday, the work will be through zoom only. Service to the public must continue, so that it is not disturbed," he said.
