JAKARTA - The Kremlin on Sunday warned that the US and Israeli aggression in the Middle East had led to devastating consequences for the global economy, which would have long-term impacts.
Speaking to Russia's state news agency TASS, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "We are now seeing the very destructive consequences of this war for the global economy and regional geopolitics," he said.
"These consequences may not be short-term; they will have long-term effects," he said.
It is known that the US and Israel have carried out air raids against Iran since February 28, which have so far killed more than 1,340 people, including the then Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Iran retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military assets, causing casualties and infrastructure damage as well as disrupting global markets and flights.
Amid news of efforts to reconcile the United States with Iran, Washington is said to be preparing a ground operation plan to the Land of the Mullahs.
A number of US officials who spoke to the Washington Post on condition of anonymity confirmed that this ground operation was not a "full-scale invasion", but a limited attack carried out by Special Operations forces and conventional infantry.
In response, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Sunday accused the United States of secretly preparing a ground offensive, as Washington openly pursued diplomatic efforts to end the war.
"The enemy openly sends messages of negotiation and dialogue while secretly planning a ground attack," Ghalibaf said in a statement carried by the official IRNA news agency, quoted by Daily Sabah.
"Our forces are waiting for the arrival of American soldiers on the ground to burn them and punish their regional allies once and for all," he added.
