Governor Andi Sumangerukka Attends PSBM XXVI, Sultra Can Add 10 Thousand Hectare Rice Fields Print

JAKARTA - The Governor of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) Andi Sumangerukka is committed to carrying out development that prioritizes dedication and integrity.

This was conveyed by Andi when attending the XXVI Bugis-Makassar Merchant Meeting (PSBM) which was held at the Claro Makassar Hotel Ballroom, Thursday, March 26. His presence is part of efforts to strengthen synergy with the central government and open opportunities for cross-sectoral cooperation to accelerate regional development.

"Never ask what you get from the country, but what you give to the country. As a leader, I hold the principle that 'rotten fish starts from the head', I have to be in good condition so that the entire 'body' of the South Sulawesi Province is also in good condition," said Andi in the activity.

Andi said this principle was strengthened by his life experience since childhood in Southeast Sulawesi, especially when living on Wawonii Island, Konawe Regency, Kepulauan. There, he saw firsthand the sincerity of the people who helped without any reward.

This experience, he said, became the basis for his determination to repay the community's kindness through real work and policies that are in the people's favor.

After becoming a speaker, the Southeast Sulawesi Province received concrete support in the agricultural sector. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that the region led by Andi would receive an additional people's rice paddy printing program of 10 thousand hectares.

"South Sulawesi Province will add another 10 thousand rice fields to encourage further self-sufficiency," said Andi.

With this addition, the total area of the people's rice paddy printing program in East Nusa Tenggara increased to 24,050 hectares from the previous 14,050 hectares.

This increase is expected to strengthen food security while accelerating the realization of food self-sufficiency in the region. This program is also in line with the development priorities of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government which places the food sector as the main focus through an agromarine approach.

The PSBM XXVI, which carries the theme "Resilient Merchants, Growing Economy. This activity is coupled with the South Sulawesi Family Harmony (KKSS) Halal Bihalal to become a strategic space to expand collaboration that has a direct impact on the welfare of the community, especially in Southeast Sulawesi.
