Cianjur - The Cianjur Police, West Java, are investigating the death of four residents of Mande District after drinking oplosan liquor. Another one in critical condition is still undergoing treatment at the Cianjur Hospital.
The head of the narcotics unit of the Cianjur Police, AKP Tatang Sunarya, said the five victims had undergone treatment at the hospital, but four of them were declared dead a few days after undergoing intensive treatment.
"The victim died on March 25 and Thursday, March 26, while another person until Friday is still in critical condition undergoing treatment and handling by medical teams at the hospital," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 27.
His party is still investigating and conducting an investigation to reveal the exact cause of the death of the four people, by asking for information from witnesses including the family but the temporary suspicion that they died after drinking oplosan liquor.
In addition, his party has carried out a crime scene at the location where the victims consumed oplosan liquor to find evidence and conducted an autopsy, but was rejected by the family.
"The family refused to be autopsied because they suspected that the victims died from the disease they suffered from, where the family said that the four victims had a history of stomach and heart disease," he said.
However, to ensure that his party is waiting for the results of the diagnosis from the hospital's medical team related to the cause of the death of the four victims, while for the victim who is still critical, his party has not been able to ask for information.
"We are still waiting for the results of the diagnosis from the hospital, to determine the cause of the victim's death because the family argues that the victim died of a disease," he said.
His party asked the public not to consume various types of liquor, including oplosan, mixed with other chemicals because it could cost lives.
"We will intensify patrols to prevent the circulation of liquor, illegal drugs, and drugs, so that there will be no more victims because of consuming prohibited goods," he said.
