APAU KAYAN - The Resident of the Kapit Division, Sarawak, Malaysia, Elvis Anak Didit will encourage the Government of the Kingdom of Malaysia to immediately realize the construction of an integrated cross-border facility in the Mega Site area, Kapit.

"We hope that the ICQS (Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security) Complex at the Mega Site, Malaysia, can be built with the facilities expected to be equivalent to the Border Crossing Post (PLBN) in Indonesia," said Elvis at the Long Nawang Village Custom House, Thursday (26/3/2026).

Elvis emphasized that the construction of the PLBN/ICQS at the Mega Site was an urgent need to synchronize the flow of people and goods from both countries through official channels.

"We really need facilities like this so that the flow of people from both sides can be coordinated. If through the legal channel, then the management will be more orderly and many things can be arranged well," said Elvis.

According to him, the current conditions on the ground still show disparities in facilities in border areas. On one side (Indonesia) there is already available supporting infrastructure, while on the other side (Sarawak, Malaysia) it is not yet, so cross-border surveillance has not been optimal.

"The problem is not only the movement of people, but also goods that have not been fully integrated into the legal system and border surveillance," he explained.

Elvis revealed that this step was not to limit the activities of border communities. The government, he said, actually wanted to ensure that all activities were legal and in accordance with the rules of both countries.

"We don't want to block, but we want to legalize and regulate through legal channels. This is important, not only for people in border areas such as Long Nawang, Long Unai, and Long Buta, but also for the interests of the country as a whole," he said.

He also expressed his appreciation for the visit of the Deputy or Deputy Minister of Digital Sarawak, Datuk Wilson Uga Anak Kumbong, together with the entourage who had directly reviewed the border conditions.

"This visit strengthens our joint commitment to encouraging better border area management," he explained.

Elvis added that the plan to build a facility equivalent to PLBN or ICQS Complex in Sarawak actually had a clear vision. However, its realization still requires encouragement and approval at the federal government level in Malaysia.

"The vision is there, it's just how we raise it to the higher levels, especially at the federal level," he said.

"With the acceleration of the development of PLBN/ICQS at the Mega Site, it is hoped that cross-border activities between Indonesia and Malaysia can take place more orderly, safe, and provide wider economic impact for people in the border area," he said.
