Jambi Police: The Number of Road Accident Victims During the Lebaran Homecoming Decreased

JAMBI - The Jambi Regional Police Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) recorded the number of traffic accidents (lakalantas) during the homecoming and return to Idulfitri 1447 H/2026 M, for the number of fatalities or deaths decreased compared to last year, namely from seven people in 2025 to two people in 2026.

"However, the number of traffic accidents during the 2026 Siginjai Ketupat Operation recorded 32 incidents, two of which were reported dead, five were seriously injured, 49 were lightly injured and the material losses due to the accident were estimated at only Rp. 124.1 million," said the Director of Traffic (Dirlantas) of the Jambi Police, Kombes Adi Benny in Jambi, Antara, Thursday, March 26.

For traffic flow during the implementation of the 2026 Siginjai Ketupat Operation, it was observed to run smoothly, even though there was an increase in vehicle volume at a number of points on the return home route, but in general the vehicle flow condition is still under control and does not cause significant congestion.

"For monitoring the flow, in general it is monitored smoothly even though there is a slight increase in vehicle volume and the police still find various violations committed by travelers. During the operation, a total of 1,414 sheets of reprimands were given to traffic violators.

Dirlantas Kombes Pol Adi Benny also explained that the most dominant type of violation was related to the completeness of the driver's administration and vehicles. In addition, violations related to vehicle loads were also found which were considered potentially dangerous for road safety.

"The dominant violations are related to the completeness of driver and vehicle administration, including vehicle loads that can endanger safety," he explained.

The Jambi Police appealed to the public to continue to comply with traffic rules, ensure the completeness of vehicles, and maintain physical condition while driving to minimize the risk of accidents during the homecoming and Eid al-Fitr.

Meanwhile, from the Jambi Regional Jasa Raharja, it was noted that despite the increase in the number of traffic accidents compared to the same period last year. However, the number of deaths actually decreased significantly.

In 2026, a total of 29 traffic accidents were recorded. This figure increased sharply by 163.6 percent compared to 2025 which only recorded 11 incidents. Of the total incidents, 50 people were injured, up 31.6 percent from the previous year which amounted to 38 people.

However, amid the increase in the number of accidents, the number of deaths has dropped drastically. In 2026, there were two deaths, down 71.4 percent compared to 2025 which reached seven people and of the two victims, one has been paid compensation, while the other was transferred to the Bogor branch because the heirs were there.

Even though the number of accidents increased, the decrease in the number of fatalities was a positive indicator of the handling efforts and rapid response carried out.

Jambi Police and Jasa Raharja together with related stakeholders continue to appeal to the public to always be careful, maintain physical condition, and comply with traffic rules for safety during the Lebaran homecoming and return.
