Good News from BMKG! Aceh Cloudy during Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah Celebration

BANDA ACEH - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the weather in the Aceh region will be cloudy during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah celebration until two to three days ahead.

BMKG Aceh Praktirawan, Fitriana Nur, menyampaikan bahwa kondisi cuaca relatif stabil dan mendukung aktivitas masyarakat selama Lebaran.

"The weather forecast for the Aceh region for at least the next three days is quite good, cloudy," he said in Banda Aceh, Antara, Saturday, March 21.

Based on BMKG data, as many as 23 regencies/cities in Aceh are predicted to experience sunny cloudy weather on March 21-22, 2026, coinciding with the momentum of Idulfitri which has been determined by the government through the isbat session of the Ministry of Religion.

However, BMKG also detected 16 hotspots in a number of areas. The points are spread across:

Aceh Jaya (8 points)

West Aceh (4 points)

North Aceh (2 points)

East Aceh (1 point)

Lhokseumawe (1 point)

This monitoring is obtained from satellite sensors such as MODIS and NOAA20/VIIRS which identify higher surface temperatures than the surrounding area.

Fitriana explained that although the hot spot category is still considered moderate, this condition still needs to be watched because it has the potential to trigger forest and land fires (karhutla).

BMKG also urges the public to remain vigilant when carrying out activities outdoors, especially in the midst of a hot weather. In addition, residents in areas prone to forest fires are asked not to open land by burning to prevent the risk of wider fires.

Sunny weather on Eid is certainly good news, but vigilance is still needed so that the celebration remains safe and comfortable for everyone.
