JAKARTA - Iranian authorities have arrested dozens of people across the country on suspicion of collaborating with Israel, government-affiliated media reported on Sunday, more than two weeks after the Middle East war began.

"Twenty people were arrested and detained" after they were found "sending details of military, law enforcement, and security locations to the Zionist enemy," the Fars news agency said, quoting Provincial Prosecutor Hossein Majidi, as reported by Al Arabiya and AFP (16/3).

The arrests took place during a raid on a network linked to Israel in the Western Azerbaijan Province, he added.

At least 18 people were also arrested for "sending pictures of locations bombed by Israel and the US" and other sites to the London-based Iranian International TV channel, the Tasnim news agency said, citing the intelligence ministry.

In January, Iran banned cooperation with Iran International, saying the channel was "affiliated with the Zionist regime."

It is known that the latest conflict broke out on February 28 with a US-Israeli attack that killed Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, which triggered Iranian retaliation.

Since then, authorities have carried out massive raids across Iran, and in recent days arrested hundreds of people suspected of collaborating with Israel and the United States, according to local media reports.
