BMKG: Today Light Rain Covers Most of Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most of the provincial capital areas in Indonesia will be hit by light rain on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

BMKG Praktirawan Henokhvita on the Youtube channel that was followed in Jakarta said, starting from Sumatra Island, Banda Aceh City is predicted to have cloudy weather, while light rain has the potential to rain on Medan City, Tanjung Pinang, Padang and Jambi.

"Kota Bengkulu is predicted to be thick clouds, and be aware of lightning that can occur in Pekanbaru, Pangkal Pinang and Bandar Lampung," he said.

Turning to Java Island, the weather is predicted to be thick clouds, while Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta and Surabaya have the potential for light rain.

Moving to Kalimantan, all major city areas are predicted to be hit by light rain ranging from Pontianak, Tanjung Selor, Palangkaraya, Banjarmasin and Samarinda.

Moving to the Bali and Nusa Tenggara region, the weather is predicted to be thick clouds in Mataram, light rain in Denpasar, and rain with moderate intensity in the Kupang area.

Then for Sulawesi Island, it is estimated that there will be smoke or fog in Palu City, while Gorontalo, Makassar and Kendari will be showered with light intensity rain.

Meanwhile, Mamuju City has the potential for moderate rain.

For the Maluku and North Maluku regions, Ambon City is predicted to rain with light intensity, while Ternate will be rained with moderate intensity.

Meanwhile, for the Papua region, light rain will fall on Sorong City, Nabire, Jayapura and Jayawijaya.

"Merauke and Manokwari will be hit by moderate intensity rain," said Henokhvita.

BMKG also reminded of the potential for heavy to very heavy rain in the Bangka Belitung Islands, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
