Plot Twist, Rismon Sianipar Apologizes and Admits Jokowi's Degree is Original

JAKARTA - Digital forensics expert Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar apologized publicly for his previous statement regarding the alleged fake diploma of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

In his statement, Rismon admitted that the polemics that arose as a result of his statement had caused a commotion in the community. He also apologized to President Jokowi and the Indonesian people.

"I apologize to President Joko Widodo and the people of Indonesia for the commotion that occurred as a result of my previous statement," said Rismon, quoted by Said Didu through his account @msaid_didu, Friday, March 13.

In his statement, Rismon also emphasized that President Jokowi's diploma was genuine. According to him, there is no evidence that can show that the educational document is fake.

In addition to apologizing, Rismon also proposed a settlement of the case through the restorative justice mechanism. The request was submitted to the Polda Metro Jaya investigators so that cases related to the allegations of a fake Jokowi diploma could be resolved peacefully.

Director of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, stated that investigators had received the request and were trying to facilitate the restorative justice process filed by Rismon together with his legal team.

Previously, the controversy regarding the allegation of a fake Jokowi diploma had resulted in a police report filed by President Jokowi to the Polda Metro Jaya. The report is related to allegations of defamation and violations of the Information and Electronic Transaction Law (ITE).

In the latest development, Rismon is also known to have visited President Jokowi's residence on Thursday afternoon to apologize directly related to the controversy.

With the apology and the submission of restorative justice, it is hoped that the polemics related to the allegations of President Jokowi's diploma can be immediately eased and resolved peacefully.
