JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated the Transjabodetabek service on the Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta Airport (SH2) route at Blok M Terminal Line 6, Melawai, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

This new route is a direct service that connects the Blok M area with Soekarno-Hatta International Airport without having to change modes of transportation.

"Today we are starting something new that the public has been waiting for, namely to inaugurate the TransJabodetabek SH2 service on the Blok M - Soekarno-Hatta Airport route. This route is a route that many people are waiting for," said Pramono, Thursday, March 12.

This service has a track length of around 65.1 kilometers with an estimated travel time from Blok M to the airport of around 121 minutes. A total of 14 bus units are prepared to serve the route.

Of that number, there are 13 stopping points in the Jakarta area and 10 stopping points outside Jakarta. Buses operate from 05.00 to 22.00 with an inter-bus waiting time (headway) of around 10 to 20 minutes.

Pramono said the presence of the SH2 route is expected to provide a new alternative for people who want to go to the airport from the center of activity in South Jakarta, especially the Blok M area which is being developed as a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) area.

"So far, about 70 to 80 percent of the public still use private vehicles to go to the airport. In fact, passenger traffic at Soekarno-Hatta Airport reaches more than 54.9 million people per year," said Pramono.

For the initial stage, the tariff for this service is set at Rp. 3,500. The tariff is valid for the next three months, including in the period leading up to Eid al-Fitr.

"For the next three months, especially in order to welcome Idulfitri, the fixed tariff is set at Rp3,500. After three months, we will conduct an evaluation because the operational burden and subsidies that must be borne are quite large. After the evaluation period, the tariff will be adjusted to a range of Rp10,000 to Rp15,000," he explained.

Currently, the journey from Blok M to Soekarno-Hatta Airport is also served by a number of other modes of transportation. Among them are DAMRI shuttles with a fare of around Rp80,000, Blue Bird taxis with a fixed fare of around Rp217,000 outside the toll fee, as well as online transportation services such as GoCar and Grab which range from Rp127,500 to Rp155,500.

Through this Transjabodetabek SH2 service, the government targets around 1,900 to 2,000 passengers can be served every day.

The target refers to the experience of the previous Transjabodetabek route, such as the Blok M-Bogor route. At the beginning of operation, the route was only targeted to serve around 2,000 passengers per day. However, on holidays, the number of passengers can now reach more than 8,500 people with an average of over 7,000 passengers per day.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Tangerang, Sachrudin, welcomed the arrival of the new route because it was considered to support the mobility of residents in the Jakarta buffer area.

"Tangerang is a city of tracks, both through the Jakarta-Merak Toll Road and access to Soekarno-Hatta Airport. With this Transjabodetabek service, we hope to help minimize congestion at a number of points, both in Jakarta and in the Tangerang City area," he said.
