The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Muhammad Ali, said the opening of the route was carried out after a request from the Bangka Belitung regional government.
"There is a request from Bangka Belitung, this is also likely to be fulfilled from Jakarta to Bangka Belitung," said Muhammad Ali at a press conference at the Military Sea Crossing Command (Kolinlamil), North Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, March 11.
With the addition of this route, the Indonesian Navy is now providing free homecoming services to three destinations, namely Semarang, Surabaya, and Bangka Belitung.
Not only for the homecoming flow, the TNI AL also ensures the return flow service from the three regions to Jakarta.
In this program, the Indonesian Navy plans to deploy two Landing Platform Dock (LPD) warships. However, Ali has not detailed which Indonesian Republic warships will be used to transport pilgrims.
