JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) clarified the viral video showing the menu of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) at a school in Pamekasan Regency, East Java, on Monday (9/3) in the form of marinated catfish and tempeh.
Deputy Head of BGN Nanik Sudaryati Deyang explained, based on field reports, the food package prepared by the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) actually consists of several menu components, namely marinated catfish, fermented tofu and tempeh, pizza bread, boiled eggs, full cream milk, and dragon fruit.
"Based on the report we received, the menu prepared by SPPG is actually complete. However, in the video that is circulating, only a portion of the menu can be seen because the school refused to take out the food package from the distribution vehicle," said Nanik as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 10.
He explained that the video that circulated only showed part of the menu, thus creating an incomplete perception of the food prepared by SPPG Pamekasan Pademawu Buddagan.
BGN turns off every menu in the MBG Program is designed with consideration for nutritional balance and food safety standards, therefore, every report or polemics in the field will be followed up through coordination and evaluation to ensure service to beneficiaries continues to run optimally.
"The MBG program places food security and nutritional quality as the main priority. We continue to monitor and evaluate so that the entire process of preparation to distribution of food runs according to the standards that have been set," said Nanik.
Meanwhile, SPPG Pamekasan Nutritionist Pademawu Buddagan, Fikri Kuttawakil, explained that the use of marinated catfish in the MBG menu has nutritional and food security considerations.
"Why do we use marinated catfish? First, to prevent the loss of nutrients in the catfish and add protein on that day. When marinated, catfish can also last up to one day," said Fikri.
SPPG Pamekasan Pademawu Buddagan is known to serve a total of 3,329 beneficiaries, consisting of high school/vocational school/vocational school students, junior high school/middle school, PAUD/TK, SLB, educators, as well as pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers in the area.
