Caught by the KPK OTT, Rejang Lebong Regent Fired by PAN

JAKARTA - The National Mandate Party (PAN) fired Rejang Lebong Regent, Muhammad Fikri Thobari, as a party cadre after being entangled in the Operation Catch the Hand (OTT) carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Deputy Chairman of the PAN DPP, Viva Yoga Mauladi said, his party expressed deep concern and regret over the unpraiseworthy actions that violated the law from his cadres in carrying out his duties as a regional head. Viva emphasized that Fikri Thobari's actions were personal responsibility.

"This action violates the PAN Struggle platform and does not reflect the party's values, principles, and commitment to upholding integrity, transparency, and clean governance," Viva said in a statement, Tuesday, March 10.

Therefore, PAN dismissed Fikri Thobari as the Head of the Rejang Lebong DPD.

"DPP PAN dismissed Muhammad Fikri Thobari from the party's structural position. For the time being, the chairman of the Rejang Lebong PAN DPD has been taken over by the Bengkulu PAN DPW," said Viva.

Viva said PAN fully respects the legal process currently underway at the KPK.

"We believe that law enforcement must be transparent, objective, professional, and in accordance with the principles of justice," he said.

Since its inception, PAN has been committed to supporting the eradication of corruption in Indonesia. Therefore, Viva stated, PAN will continue to strengthen the cadre training system, improve internal supervision, and ensure that all PAN cadres entrusted with public office carry out the people's mandate with full responsibility.

"To the public, we apologize for this incident. PAN remains committed to continue working for the people, serving, and fighting for the interests of the people, as well as maintaining public confidence in building a nation free from corruption," he said.
