JAKARTA - To strengthen synergy and lay a strong legal foundation in the orchestration of the national cultural ecosystem, the Minister of Culture Fadli Zon signed a cross-sectoral cooperation with Ministries/Institutions and Regional Governments.
The cooperation, which carries the theme of Cross-Sector Synergy: Building a Progressive, Integrated, and Dignified Cultural Ecosystem, was signed at the Ministry of Culture's Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 10, with the Ministry of Communication and Digital, the Ministry of Forestry, the Ministry of Creative Economy, BRIN, and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. The focus ranges from digitization of cultural assets, strengthening research, preservation of cultural heritage, to the development of creative economy.
Menbud Fadli said that the cooperation script was an umbrella so that cultural programs did not run on their own. According to him, coordination at the technical level is important so that inter-agency cooperation does not stop on paper.
"This cooperation document is an umbrella, at the tactical and technical levels, under which we can carry out various adjustments, harmonization, and mutually supporting activities to advance national culture," said Fadli.
He emphasized that the mandate to advance culture was clearly stated in Article 32 of the 1945 Constitution. Therefore, this task is not only imposed on the Ministry of Culture, but also involves the central government, local governments, and the private sector.
Menbud Fadli also highlighted the major work being carried out by his ministry, namely the verification and digitization of cultural collections and assets, including national and regional museums. On the other hand, cooperation with BRIN is considered important to strengthen cultural research, including research on the world's oldest cave painting in Indonesia which is estimated to be 67,800 years old.
Synergy with the Ministry of Forestry is also considered crucial because many archaeological sites and prehistoric caves are located in forested areas. Meanwhile, cooperation with the Ministry of Creative Economy is aimed at linking cultural development with the cultural economy, including through the revitalization of historic buildings so that they remain alive and productive.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya, Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, Head of BRIN Arif Satria, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria, and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno also emphasized the importance of collaboration, research, digitization, and protection of cultural heritage so that the impact is felt more real for the public.
