Jakarta Will Hold Shopping Discounts Until Car Free Night During the Lebaran Homecoming Period

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will run a new program entitled "Mudik to Jakarta" as part of the Jakarta Ramadan Festival series. This program is prepared to take advantage of the relatively quiet condition of Jakarta during the Lebaran homecoming period while encouraging economic activity in the capital.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the program is expected to attract people to go on vacation and shop in Jakarta when many residents of the capital return home.

"Regarding homecoming to Jakarta, we have agreed that the main tagline is 'Jakarta is empty, holidays and shopping are easy, Cuan Datang'," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, March 10.

According to him, the phenomenon of homecoming every year makes activities in Jakarta tend to decrease. This condition is actually considered as an opportunity to present various tourism and shopping programs for people who choose to stay in Jakarta or come to visit.

"Why are we doing this? Because we believe that homecoming will definitely happen and the number will definitely be a lot," said Pramono.

In the program Mudik to Jakarta, a number of shopping centers will also provide large discounts to attract visitors. The discounts provided are even said to be up to 80 percent.

The discount program runs during the Ramadan period, starting from March 4 to March 31. In addition to discounts of up to 80 percent, a number of shopping centers also held various Ramadan sale programs.

In addition to shopping, the DKI Provincial Government has also prepared a number of entertainment activities in the series of Homecoming to Jakarta. One of them is the Hijab Fashion Show which will be held in Tanah Abang on March 12.

Then on March 19, the Bedug Festival will be held at night, followed by a torch parade.

The DKI Provincial Government has also prepared a car-free night activity during Ramadan. In this activity, private vehicles are not allowed to pass through the designated area, but public transportation is still operating.

"Starting at 10 pm we will hold an event called car free night. So private vehicles are not allowed to enter, but Transjakarta will still operate so that people can be active because it is already 10 pm," he concluded.
