Early Morning Fire in Cimahi, 1 Elderly Dies and Losses Reach Rp300 Million

CIMAHI - One elderly person died in a house fire on Jalan Cihanjuang, Cibabat Village, North Cimahi District, Cimahi City, West Java, Tuesday, March 10, early morning.

The incident was handled by the Cimahi City Police and Fire Department after receiving a report from residents.

The commander of Regu 1 of the Cimahi City Police and Fire Department, Indrahadi, said the victim who died was the owner of the house that was burned in the incident.

"The victim died one person on behalf of Mr. Muslih, aged 73 years, and one person suffered minor injuries on behalf of Mr. Ato, aged 45 years," said Indrahadi in Cimahi, Antara, Tuesday, March 10.

He explained that his party received a report of a fire at around 02.33 WIB and immediately headed to the location to handle it.

Officers arrived at the scene at around 02.40 WIB or seven minutes after the report was received, then immediately carried out the extinguishing process.

"Officers carried out extinguishing and cooling by deploying three units of pancar and one rescue unit (rescue) and involving 14 personnel," he said.

The fire occurred in a house owned by Muslih with a building area of about 84 square meters. Of the total area, the burned area is estimated to be around 42 square meters.

Indrahadi said the cause of the fire was still unknown and was still being investigated by officers.

He added that the losses due to the incident were estimated at around Rp300 million. The details consist of building damage of around Rp200 million and losses of goods or household contents of around Rp100 million.

The fire was first discovered by the victim's child who saw the fire coming from the second floor of the house where the victim was sleeping. He then asked for help from the surrounding residents before reporting it to the fire department.
