Hundreds of Residents Affected by Hydro-meteorological Disaster in Agam Relocated

SUMBAR - A total of 704 families affected by hydrometeorological disasters in Agam Regency, West Sumatra. The local People's Housing and Settlement Area Agency relocated the residents collectively to the provided location.

"They are willing to be relocated collectively," said Head of the People's Housing and Settlement Area (Perkim) Agam Rinaldi in Lubuk Basung, quoted by ANTARA on Sunday, March 8.

He said the 704 heads of households were spread across Tanjung Raya District 291 heads of households, Matur District 24 heads of households and Ampek Koto District two heads of households.

After that, Palupuh Sub-district one family head, Malalak Sub-district five family heads and Palembang Sub-district 381 family heads.

"They are willing to be relocated after their houses were damaged by the flash flood disaster, landslides hit the area, were in the red zone and others," he said.

He admitted that the local government had provided a collective relocation location in Dama Gadang, Tanjung Raya District, with an effective area of 5-6 hectares of house construction.

The location has a building capacity of 325 units and can accommodate the collective relocation of residents from Malalak, Ampek Koto, Matur and Tanjung Raya Districts.

Then in Padang Tarok, Nagari Salareh Aia Utara, Palembayan District, one hectare with a capacity of 75 units.

After that, the Gumarang Fish Seed Center, Nagari Koto Silungkang, Palembayan District with an area of 1.1 hectares to accommodate 60 units of houses.

"The two locations are for residents of Palembayan District, 381 people. The total number of residents who are willing to relocate is 704 families and the available land is only 460 units or still less than 244 units," he said.

Especially for residents in Palembang, he added, they need land of around four hectares and only 2.1 hectares are available.

For this reason, the land shortage will be purchased or procured and currently the land is there just for review.

"Residents of Palembayan who want to be relocated asked for it in the sub-district, so that the land that was found in Palembayan Sub-district," he said.
