NAGAN RAYA - A total of 268 heads of households (KK) survivors of flash floods in Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, have occupied temporary housing (huntara) built by the government.
The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency of Nagan Raya Regency, Irfanda Rinaldi, said the number was part of a total of 647 families who had previously fled due to flash flood disasters.
"Of the total 647 families of the community who were displaced, 268 families have occupied the huntara that the government has built, including the huntara that was built independently by the community," Irfanda told ANTARA, Sunday, March 8.
He explained that as many as 379 other families are currently still occupying evacuation tents that were previously assisted by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
In addition to living in evacuation tents, some survivors are also staying at their relatives' houses while waiting for the construction of the huntara to be completed.
According to Irfanda, the construction of temporary housing in Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District was carried out through two schemes, namely vendor huntara in the form of a centralized barracks and independent huntara built on land owned by residents.
He added that after all the temporary housing construction was completed, the people who had been displaced would be moved to occupy the huntara provided by the government.
Even though hundreds of families are still living in evacuation tents, Irfanda said BNPB together with the Nagan Raya Regency Government continues to supply basic needs for survivors at the evacuation site.
According to him, this step was taken to ensure that the central and local governments remain present to help people affected by disasters.
