JAKARTA - The Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) as the Head of the Task Force (Kasatgas) for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) after the Sumatra Disaster, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, targets that there will be no more refugees who are still staying in tents before Lebaran.

"I deliberately invite a link to the problem of refugees, especially those who are still in the tent because we hope that before Eid there will be no more in the tent," said the Minister of Home Affairs in his statement as reported by ANTARA, Friday, March 6.

Tito encouraged refugees who are still living in tents to be immediately moved to temporary housing (huntara) or through the Waiting for Housing Fund (DTH) scheme. This effort is carried out so that refugees can obtain a more decent housing solution before Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

The Minister of Home Affairs emphasized that the presence of refugees who are still living in tents until entering the third month after the disaster is a serious concern for the government. According to him, the decreasing number of refugees in tents is one of the indicators of recovery.

"So if there are still in the tents, this is already in the third month, the third month after the end of November, it is not good if they are still in the tent," he said.

Based on data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the number of refugees in the three provinces affected by the disaster continues to decline. In West Sumatra Province (Sumbar), it is known that there are no refugees in the tent.

Meanwhile, refugees in tents in Aceh Province are still scattered in a number of areas such as North Aceh, Aceh Tamiang, East Aceh, Central Aceh, Bireuen, Nagan Raya, and Gayo Lues.

Meanwhile, in North Sumatra Province, refugees are still in South Tapanuli and Central Tapanuli Regencies.

"The point is that we see that there are still people in the tent, and we need to solve this. We need what the solution is so that they are not in the tent," he said.

Tito emphasized the importance of accelerating the development of huntaraataupun the distribution of DTH so that the public can immediately occupy more decent housing.

According to him, coordination between ministries/institutions and local governments is the key to accelerating the resolution of housing issues for disaster-affected people.
