The National Police Reform Commission recommends the revision of 8 Perpol and 24 Perkap

JAKARTA - The National Police Reform Acceleration Commission revealed the recommendations for police reform that have been compiled and will soon be reported to President Prabowo Subianto.

Chairman of the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission Jimly Asshiddiqie said one of the recommendations was to revise internal regulations.

"Around eight Perpol (Police Regulation) and 24 Perkap (Police Regulation) must be revised so that they can be a reference in carrying out internal reforms in a sustainable manner for the long term," he said.

Jimly also revealed that matters related to the police issue under the ministry would later be reported to President Prabowo.

"That later the point is inside. Later we will just report it. So, we can't reveal it yet. Later we will report it to the President. Later there are some things we need him to decide like that," he said.

However, he clarified that the phrase 'under' was wrong because all institutions were under the President, including the TNI. According to him, the correct thing is related to coordination of institutions.

In addition, he continued, another thing that was formulated was the technical appointment of the National Police Chief to the assignment of members outside the police structure.

"Including the issue of the appointment of the National Police Chief, whether to use the DPR's approval or not? Things like that appear in the community, so we discuss. There are many things we have formulated, but we can't reveal it," he said.

Jimly said that the results of the evaluation and study made by the Commission were tried to be reported directly to President Prabowo before Eid.

He said the exact date was still being arranged by the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi and the Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya.
