BOGOR - The Special Committee of the Bogor City DPRD, has begun to delve into the discussion of the Regional Regulation Draft (Raperda) on the Implementation of People's Markets by emphasizing the obligation to sort waste in the market area.
The provisions were discussed in a working meeting of the Bogor City DPRD Pansus held in the Bogor City DPRD Commission I Meeting Room, Wednesday, March 4, together with a number of regional devices and stakeholders concerned.
The chairman of the committee, Banu Lesmana Bagaskara, said that the regulation was directed so that the people's market would no longer be the main contributor to waste sent to landfills (TPA).
"We require sorting between organic and inorganic waste in the market area. Organic waste is expected to be processed directly on site, for example through maggot cultivation," said Banu, Wednesday, March 4.
According to him, the processing of organic waste at the source is expected to be able to reduce the volume of waste that has been generated from trading activities in the people's market.
He explained that through the regulation, only inorganic waste that has been sorted will be sent to the landfill, so that the burden of municipal waste management can be significantly reduced.
Apart from environmental issues, the People's Market Regulation also contains provisions for the protection of domestic products and commodities.
The Bogor City DPRD Sub-Committee proposed that the management of the people's market prioritize the sale of local products with a minimum composition of 80 percent of the total goods traded in the market.
"Imported products are allowed to enter only if domestic production has not met the needs," said Banu.
He added that currently, a large amount of imported commodities in Bogor City are mostly found in the General Engineering Market (Tekum), such as soybeans and garlic which still depend on foreign supplies.
In the continuation of the discussion, the Sub-Committee will also explore a number of technical aspects related to the impact of the market on public order and traffic flow.
Some points of concern include the arrangement of parking access and loading dock areas for loading and unloading activities so that they do not use the road body.
In addition, the arrangement of the city transportation route (angkot) and the provision of a drop-off area for visitors will also be part of the discussion to ensure that the market does not cause congestion in the surrounding area.
The working meeting of the Pansus was also attended by Deputy Chairman of the Pansus Dody Hikmawan and other members of the Pansus, namely Pepen Firdaus, H. Azis Muslim, Rozi Putra, Iwan Setiawan, Abdul Rosyid, Zakiyatul Fikriyah Al-Aslamiyah, Devie Prihartini, and Lusiana Nurissiyadah, along with a number of related regional devices such as Perumda Pasar Pakuan Jaya (PPJ), Satpol PP, DPMPTSP, and the Bogor City PUPR Service.
