Two Lampung-Origin Thieves Were Beaten by Residents in Johar Baru, Jakpus

Two perpetrators of a motor theft with sharp initials AW (26) and I (26) were caught by residents while carrying out a theft on Jalan Topas, RT 04/02, Galur Village, Johar Baru District, Central Jakarta.

The two Lampung residents were finally arrested by residents around the scene. Then the two perpetrators were taken to the RW 02 residents post, Johar Baru District, Central Jakarta.

Head of Public Relations of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri said the incident began when the two perpetrators entered the victim's house with the initials K at the location of the incident.

"One perpetrator took a motorcycle from inside the victim's house by forcibly breaking the motorcycle lock. Meanwhile, another perpetrator watched the situation outside the victim's house," said Iptu Erlyn when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, February 4, 2021.

The perpetrator managed to take the victim's motorcycle from inside the house. Then when the motorcycle was taken outside the house, the action of the two was discovered by the neighbors in front of the victim's house.

"It turns out that there were witnesses who saw the two perpetrators, then the witnesses arrested the two perpetrators at the same time," he said.

The perpetrator was then secured to the local RW post. When the officers searched, they found 1 letter T key, 3 modified key eyes, 1 key opener magnet and a knife belonging to the perpetrator.

"Both perpetrators were taken to the Johar Baru Police to be investigated and further investigated. We are also looking for CCTV footage for completeness of evidence," he said.

For their actions, the two perpetrators were charged with Article 477 of the Criminal Code regarding the crime of attempted theft with a two-wheeled vehicle.
