Results of Survey 57 Percent of US Citizens Support Palestinian Independence

JAKARTA - A public opinion poll conducted in the United States shows that 57 percent of Americans support a Palestinian state, almost the same as the Gallup poll held in 2003.

According to the latest Gallup poll, the largest probability-based research panel in the US, there has been a significant change in the attitude of American citizens towards Israel and Palestine compared to previous years.

The polling, as reported by Antara, showed that 65 percent of Democratic Party participants said their sympathies were more inclined to Palestine, while another 17 percent were more sympathetic to Israel.

The survey also showed that 70 percent of Republican participants were more sympathetic to Israel, compared to 13 percent who were more sympathetic to Palestine.

Although the number of differences is still quite large, sympathy from the Republican Party for Israel has dropped 10 points since 2024 to the lowest level since 2004.

This poll shows that 41 percent of independent voters sympathize with the Palestinians, compared to 30 percent who sympathize with Israel. Meanwhile, in previous years, as many as 42 percent of votes supported Israel and 34 percent supported Palestine.
